The University of Maine at Augusta’s Randall Student Center renovation transformed an existing campus facility into a more welcoming, flexible hub for student services, campus life, and community connection. The $2 million project included a new Welcome Center, updated offices for student-facing departments, improved gathering areas, a café, spirit store, prayer room, student lounge, and student government space.
Completed as UMA emerged from COVID-19, the renovation was designed to support both in-person and remote student needs. Flexible rooms, updated ventilation, improved privacy for advising and financial aid conversations, and technology-ready spaces helped create a center built for how students learn, access services, and connect with campus.
Working within an active educational environment, PGC managed construction through labor shortages, material delays, and evolving campus needs while maintaining a focus on safety, coordination, and minimizing disruption. The completed center supports UMA’s goal of creating an accessible, student-focused destination for current, prospective, on-campus, online, and statewide learners.
